Make-up (SPMU)

Semi-Permanent Makeup (SPMU)

More and more people are choosing semi permanent makeup which imitates perfectly applied cosmetics, with natural-looking results. There are many reasons why someone may choose SPMU. Such examples may include a busy life style, a physical incapability to apply makeup, to correct facial asymmetry, people with oily skin where makeup does not stay or those who have been affected by trauma.

The effect is achieved by mechanically infusing hypo-allergenic specialist pigments into the dermal layer of the skin via a special kind of micro needle where they remain all day, every day. This is known as micro-pigmentation.

Micro-pigmentation can be compared to having a tattoo as the new pigment or colour is deposited in the dermal layer of the skin, just below the surface. The treatment will fade after approximately 1 – 5 years although some colour will remain to a greater or lesser degree dependent upon the individual. A “colour boost” is recommended 12 months after the initial treatment to maintain a fresh appearance.

At the clinic we offer SPMU colour to the eyebrows, lip liner, full to partial lip blends, beauty spots and freckle treatments. You can return to work and resume normal activities immediately afterwards. A patch test is required prior to any treatment.

 

Eyebrow SPMU

The right brow shape transforms the face, highlights the natural beauty of the eyes and frames the face. It can take years off your appearance. SP eyebrows can rectify years of over-plucking and will work within the contours of your face giving you a feel-good factor. The clinic uses different brow procedures to create your SP brows. Anyone who applies brow pencil, gel, powder or liquid eyebrow will benefit from such treatment as they will be able to go swimming, or play sports without the embarrassment of smudging or losing their eyebrows. We can also treat those affected by alopecia, who may have little or no eyebrow hair at all.

There are two main ways in which we apply your new permanent eyebrows. At your consultation our therapist will discuss various methods with you to deliver the best results for your needs.

Powder brows will achieve a beautiful brow shape and a soft shadow of colour, without using the hair strokes procedure. This involves the application of thousands of pigmented dots that gradually build up a natural colour on the skin to achieve a well-defined shape. As the pigment is absorbed deep into the skin, this procedure typically lasts longer and has a deeper impact. Any concerns about looking unnatural can be eased as we use only the very best cosmetic pigments and have a wide range of blended colours and shades to match your natural eyebrow tone.

Hair stroke brows give the most natural appearance. Hair stroke brows create a perfect brow shape that looks just like the real thing, by imitating every single brow hair through the stroking of the needle through the skin to produce a soft hair-like mark, creating the illusion of real, natural brows. While the look is extremely natural, this procedure typically does not provide the same longevity as the powder brows technique due to the nature of the treatment.
